  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mexico had only two players in the 2024-25 Champions League: Hirving Lozano and Santiago Giménez. 'Chucky' exited the competition after his transfer from PSV to San Diego FC in MLS, while Giménez, who started the tournament with Feyenoord before joining AC Milan, was knocked out by his former club in the playoff round.

No Mexican player was initially set to feature in the 2024-25 Europa League. However, César Huerta's arrival at Anderlecht created an opportunity – but it was short-lived, as Anderlecht fell to Fenerbahce in the playoff round.

Jurado and Huescas were Mexico’s last hopes in the Conference League, but both were eliminated in the Round of 16, leaving the Mexican national team without any representation in European competitions.
